on Aug 12, 2022, Updated Oct 18, 2024 Looking for more Chaat recipes? Try my Pani Puri (Golgappa/ Puchka) Recipe, Air Fryer Papdi and Easy Aloo Chaat! Imagine crispy bread that’s topped with layers of boiled potato, chopped onions, grated carrot, spicy green chutney, dahi, meethi imli chutney, crunchy sev and repeat – that’s this Bread Chaat for you! The first few bites are textures of crispy bread with all the toppings so it reminds you of a sev puri or dahi puri. And then as you keep eating, the bread starts to soak up the dahi and the chutneys and starts to become softer in the middle. And then it reminds you of eating dahi vada. I can’t even explain how this actually becomes better than it was!

Bread Chaat Ingredients Overview

This bread chaat recipe contains all the ingredients you’d add in sev puri or papdi chaat. And if you have imli chutney and coriander chutney in the fridge, the rest of the ingredients are just pantry staples. We start with toasting two slices of white bread until they’ve browned evenly and turned crispy. On it goes a thick layer of green coriander chutney, followed by veggies like boiled potatoes, grated carrots, and sliced onions. Drizzle some of that curd mixture, and add in another layer of the veggies and curd. Top it up with sweet tamarind chutney, coriander chutney, chaat masala, red chilli powder, lots of nylon sev, and serve immediately.

Richa’s Top Tips

I would recommend using white or brown bread for this recipe as it has the perfect texture for chaat recipes. Whisking the curd is really important as that is what makes it really creamy, which is exactly what we need for this recipe. I usually keep a jar each of my coriander chutney and imli chutney prepped in the fridge. They last really long in the fridge, and this way it’s so easy to whip up my favorite chaat recipes even on a moment’s notice.

This bread chaat recipe is perfect for both, unexpected guests and cravings. It makes for the perfect 5 pm snack with a hot cup of chai of tea with friends and family. You’ve got to try this one.
