on Jun 21, 2022, Updated Jul 04, 2024 It’s best served with spicy dishes as the onions help cut through the spice. What I love about this one is that it is made with simple ingredients that are easily available in most Indian kitchens. Plus it is ready in 5 minutes!
Ingredients for Onion Raita
How to make Onion Raita
Making onion raita is only a four step process: Onion raita also known as pyaaz ka raita’s main purpose is to mitigate the heat from spices and masalas found in Indian dishes. The pungent taste of onions is beautifully balanced by the freshness of curd and chopped mint leaves. It is then flavoured with some simple basic spices such as green chillies, cumin powder and rock salt. The result is a refreshing and crunchy raita that tastes lovely with dishes like biryanis and pulaos. When making this raita, use thick fresh curd or greek yoghurt and whisk it until it is creamy and free of lumps. Finely slice the onions and chop the mint leaves before mixing them with the curd for an ultimate onion raita. The refreshing taste of this raita and super simple recipe will have you making this one again and again. Apart from biryani and pulao, onion raita pairs really well with parathas, sabzi, roti and tomato rice too. LOVE THIS RECIPE? Subscribe to my newsletter and be the first to receive all new recipes!
