on Jun 10, 2015, Updated Sep 03, 2020 I hate dry figs, but I love fresh ones. So imagine my excitement when I saw a box of fresh figs at the market the other day. To be honest, I can finish an entire box just by myself, but this time I decided to exercise restrain as I wanted to try cooking with them. I used half the batch to make my Spiced Lamb and Figs, and the other half for this roasted fig with cardamom yogurt and honey. It made for an elegant dessert, both in how it looked and tasted, and I must say I am really happy with it!
Why You’ll Love This Dish
A really quick and simple dessert that looks elegant and tastes delicious! Perfect to make for a large crowd Requires only 5 ingredients and most of them are Indian pantry staples Super beginner friendly
Ingredients You’ll Need
Figs: Try to find figs that are fresh and ripe, but still have that bite to it. This is essential to prevent them from getting too mushy once cooked.
Honey: For flavor and sweetness.
Vanilla Bean: To add a another layer of flavor. Don’t skimp on this as it instantly takes this dessert a notch higher!
Yogurt: I have used plain Greek yogurt for this recipe.
Cardamom: Ground to a fine powder for flavor and garnish.
I love how the figs held their shape while roasting, but just a little squeeze and the juices started oozing out. For some reason, every bite made me feel like I’m in Turkey or some place exotic like that. Try it, and I promise you’ll fall in love too!
